Inspiration for finding and fulfiling purpose.

pastHis anger lasts only a moment, but his kindness lasts for a lifetime. Crying may last for a night, but joy comes in the morning. (Psalm 30:5)

Wow…I finally understand what God has been trying to tell me about this verse “Crying may last for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” The past may have hurt you but your future is brighter with God.

God can be angry about your actions in the past (or future) for only a moment but his kindness towards you lasts for a lifetime. Most of us dwell in the past so much that we hang on to it. We have fears of facing our future which hinders us from gaining the joy that comes in the morning. We indirectly tell God we don’t trust him with our future when we hold on to the past. God has given us a new chapter with him, so have faith and trust that all will be well!

Someone might be thinking “does that mean I have to forget the past?” I am saying learn from your past and move on.

Romans 15:4 says, “Everything that was written in the past was written to teach us.

The Scriptures give us patience and encouragement so that we can have hope.” Everything in life can be a lesson; you have a choice to either let it defeat or make you stronger. If we can be true to ourselves, some of us can see things in our present that remind us of our past, making us act defensively because we can predict the result in our minds. Do we ever think that if we react differently, the result too will be different?

When God brings something good and new into your life, dwelling on the past may blind you from perceiving it. Don’t let fear rule your life. 2 Timothy 1:7 says, “God did not give us a spirit that makes us afraid but a spirit of power and love and self-control.” Start having a serious personal relationship with God today. Test and see that the Lord is true to his word. Crying may last for a night, but joy comes in the morning. How many more nights do you want to keep crying? If you notice, it says crying may last for a night, so the decision on how long you cry is up to you. God’s anger lasts only for a moment but his kindness last for a lifetime; stop beating yourself up and ask God to forgive you and move on!

Remember God is the only one that can totally heal you from your past, so ask him to heal you!
